Break out the glow sticks young lads, techno granny is here.  BTW…is this a street rave in the middle of the day?  Because of it is I want to know where they are so I can live there.  This way when I’m old and disoriented I can walk out of my house and catch the beat of music.  Then end up on youtube as a viral video.  It would be the perfect ending to a perfect life.

Content Is Overrated, Money Talks With Reddit

With an Alexa Rank of 406, the social media site Reddit generates serious traffic.  The problem with the site is that the moderators are overzealous.  They are all on ego trips and way to quick to pull the trigger on so called “Spam” sites.  Even more amazingly, some of the moderators don’t accept links for lesser known blogs.  I know this for a fact since this site was recently rejected.  When I asked a moderator why it never showed up in the new section, they replied that I should only submit well known sites???  Hey buddy, If I wanted well known sites I’d go directly to ESPN, CNN, and read all the other mainstream sites.  Why would I even utilize a service such as reddit which is intended to drive up the best stories based on subcategories through users upvoting good content?  And here’s where this story begins….

The best content gets upvoted and ends up at the top of the site, right?  Not anymore!  Reddit has shopped the top spot for the individual/group who wants to spend the most.  For example, if you have 25% of the total pool for the day your advertisement will appear at the top slot for 25% of the day.  There is a minimum of $20 and only the main page is available so far (no subreddits).

So what do you think about shopping the top spot?  My opinion is that its good for one thing – the jerkoff moderators won’t be able to control the top spot because money talks.  I guess at this site content is overrated.

On a closing note, you can bet I’ll be throwing my money into Reddit ads at some point.  And we plan to throw some crummy content out there to get the redditors buzzing!  I can see the comments already:

Al Gore’s Media Channel Says Sarah Palin Is A Twilf And Gun-Ho

It seems like Al Gore’s media program Current TV has been inspired by Manny Pacquiao’s boxing performance against Miguel Cotto this weekend, because they’ve come out throwing haymakers at the Republican Party faithful.  The verbal beating came in the fashion of a video dubbed The Stupid Virus.  Here’s what we learned:

Sarah Palin is a Twilf.  Thank goodness this is in the open, but does that mean she is a tweep I‘d like to follow or a tweep I‘d like to f*ck?  I’m guessing the latter of the two.  (see screen-shot below)

In other related news reported by Gawker, Gore’s Current TV announced last Wednesday November 11th they are firing 80 of the 380 staff members.  Way to strike back with a vengeance Gore TV.  The women activist organizations are certainly going to love the Twilf and Gun-Ho comments.    But I guess the theory is any press is good press.

Never Drive And Surf With The Laptop Steering Wheel Desk

We all know it’s illegal to drink and drive, but there is no law against surfing and driving.  This is the market the Laptop Steering Wheel Desk hopes to capitalize on.  The tray creates an office on the go that attaches to your car’s steering wheel for easy access to a writing and drink storage surface.

I don’t know about you but this product scares the crap out of me!  How many times do you see a bimbo on their cell phone almost bump into you?  Now these guys are creating a product that allows using a laptop on the go.  Can you say an accident waiting to happen?  In defense of the product maker, they do have a disclaimer to never use the tray while driving.  But do you think that is really going to hold up when a teenager needs mapquest or they will be late for a party.  Or what if a business man needs to quickly edit a PowerPoint for a huge presentation he is giving in 10 minutes?  I demand a law against driving and surfing!  No one wants to see this…
