Twitter Picture Captures Napping Transit Worker; Causes Controversy

Twitter has started controversies between celebrities and every day people, so this latest controversy is nothing new. However, the Toronto Transit Agency and the Toronto Transit Commission are up in arms about the simple picture, which depicts one of their employees napping on the job.
For a bit of background on the controversy, the TTC first announced in November that it would be raising their fares by a quarter in January. The entire move has been unpopular with the citizens of Toronto, as many customers feel as though the service is less than sub-par.
This last Friday, A Twitter user named OGLE_Toronto grabbed a photo of a sleeping TTC ticket collector and used TwitPic to post it to Twitter. The result has been a massive media uproar which targets the TTC specifically for allowing this kind of employee on their roster while charging more for sub-par service. In fact, the image has received over 18,000 views and has generated some very heated comments. Here are just a few of the highlights:
“Sorry, but if TTC can raise fares and have employees works like this, chat on the cell while driving and give attitude, to riders, then TC deserves to be made fun of. Time for an overhaul. The Transit union WILL fall like Enron!”
“Sure, we’ve all gotten sleepy at work. But I pay this guy’s salary as a regular TTC rider, so I have the right to ridicule him for it.”
“Give the guy a break. Haven’t you ever made a mistake or are you perfect?”
First Twitter Related Murder Surfaced?

Reports of a twitter argument turned foul are surfacing all over the internet, with reports stating that the argument lead to a murder, which will have New York police potentially subpoenaing tweets in the investigation.
Jameg Blake is accused of shooting and killing Kwame Dancy, both 22, with a shotgun blast to the neck. Blake has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The argument started between the two turned heated, as the first tweet was sent to Blake, stating:
““N—–s is lookin for u don’t think I won’t give up ya address for a price betta chill asap!”
In addition, Blake’s own Twitter account has an incriminating tweet which simply states “R.I.P. Kwame”, which was posted on December 3rd.
Sources close to police report that the tweets could be subpoenaed to prove the theory of bad blood between the two former friends, which would strengthen the prosecution’s case against Blake.
Facebook Terror Threat Has Serious Repercussions For Teens
Apparently a quartet of teens were arrested earlier this week for talks of blowing up their school on Facebook. The four New Jersey teens discussed using the gas main as a means for setting fire to the school. When another teenager alerted school officials, the school was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in to assess the school for any threats.
It’s still unclear whether or not the teans were serious, but they’re still being held in the Essex County juvenile detention center pending further investigation into the matter. Many students feel as though these four were obviously joking, but parents and other officials argue that its no laughing matter.
An anonymous poster via Facebook had this to say on one of the offender’s Facebook page:
“Why are kids so incredibly stupid? My friend’s son’s FB friend just posted a similar comment followed by ‘jkjkjk lolol haha’ on her son’s page. This generation of texting, sexting, tech-savvy-with-no-common-sense morons may well be the dumbest yet.”
Criminal Caught After Bragging On Facebook

It seems like the bad guys will never learn. After an arrest in Pennsylvania which was inspired by the robber using the victim’s computer to check his Facebook account and forgetting to log out, you’d think people would be just a little bit smarter, right? Wrong.
Apparently a British man by the name of Craig Lynch escaped from a low security prison in Suffolk and has been taunting Scotland Yard for months with hints as to his whereabouts without sufficiently giving himself away. Updating his status message with things such as steak dinners, the weather, and even what he planned to do for New Year’s, Lynch was finally apprehended this week, however the news report doesn’t state whether or not he was caught due to his status updates on Facebook.
The funny thing about the whole situation is that Lynch apparently broke out in the last few months of a seven year sentence for aggravated robbery and because of his avoidance of the police, he’ll be serving several more years in prison. Was the 40k fans you got on Facebook worth it, sir?
Major Presidential Accomplishment.. Obama Tweets!

Gone are the days when we admire a President for implementing government funded programs to help those in need. No, instead, in this technologically advanced age, we are admiring our President for doing something most of us do every day. Today marks the day President Obama sent his first tweet on behalf of the RedCross, urging people to aid in the recovery effort for Haiti.
While the cause is of course, noble, is this really a milestone to be celebrated? After all, all he did was click a mouse button, which millions of Americans to daily. While the accomplishment seems rather dull, the cause behind the President’s first tweet is as noble as ever.
