Get Your USB Passwords Here

Kingston has recalled the following USB Device models after it was revealed hackers could gain access to the thumb drive’s passwords: DataTraveler Elite — Privacy Edition, DataTraveler BlackBox, and DataTraveler Secure –Privacy Edition
Does anything stand out to you about this list? 3 words stand out to me – Privacy (twice) and Secure. Kingston has got to be shooting themselves for using some of the strongest words in the security community in their model names! The vulnerability was found by a German security firm called SySS GmbH, who created a script that can reveal the the passwords. Individuals with these devices are being asked to head to the Kingston site for recall.
But….Kingston isn’t the only storage company with security problems. Sandisk released a security bulletin informing individuals with all Cruzer Enterprise Flash Drive models that there is a potential vulnerability in the control mechanism. The same vulnerability exists.
As a rule of thumb, don’t put anything important on these little “easy to lose” drives.
Brazil Wins 2009’s #1 Spam Producing Country Award

What is Brazil known for? My answer in no particular order is unbelievable soccer teams, amazing beaches, and some of the hottest women in the world. Yes, I’m speaking about you Gisele Bundchen! Now you can add a new trophy to the mantle of this country – being the 2009’s #1 source of Spam in the World.
Forbes Magazine claims Brazil was responsible for 7.7 trillion spam messages so far in 2009, which nearly tripled its spam output in 2008. Why such tremendous growth? Cisco security researcher Patrick Peterson says “Brazil has had very fast broadband rollout, but without the user education, antivirus, firewalls and Internet service provider programs that are cutting off spam in the U.S.”
Based on Cisco’s 2009 Internet Spam reports, trailing Brazil is the United States, followed by India, South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, China, Poland, Russia and Argentina. Congratulations to all the winners.
Another interesting note was China moving from the #1 producing spam country in 2008 to #7 in 2009. I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Chinese Government laid the smack down on local Internet Service Providers. Expect them to be out of the top 10 very soon or someone is going to be in grave danger!
The Jets WR David Clowney Tweeting Obscenities

The New York Jets WR David Clowney is the latest spotlight tweeter to be hacked. As you can see by the screen shot, its obvious this isn’t the work of an NFL player especially since Commissioner Goodell is always lurking. The obscenities appear to be directed at fans, which obviously isn’t the work of an NFL player unless he wanted to hear the boo birds for the rest of his career.
Not to disrespect David Clowney, but I think top tier NFL Players better be on the lookout. David is the 3rd or 4th receiver for the Jets and although his followers total 6000+ think about the damage that could be created if Terrell Owens or Brandon Marshall got hacked. Not sure if they have twitter accounts, but 100,000+ followers could be impacted.
If you are in the spotlight, you better get that secure password in place! This means if your number is 87 for the New York Jets we recommend not having your password be Jets87. Not to say this is what it was but just throwing it out there.

Calling all @hotmail.com accounts that start with an “A” or a “B”. Actually between the names ararat973@hotmail.com and blando2713@hotmail.com to be exact. You may want to check pastebin.com to see if your public user name and password is listed. Or better yet rush to your account and delete all the juicy stuff. That’s right folks the “A’s” and “B’s” got hit. If you are a “C” you better hope money gets thrown to these hackers to stop the onslaught. In all, 10,028 @hotmail.com user names and passwords are listed to the public. Luckily we chose gmail over hotmail – technicapped@gmail.com.
