Ask Reddit: What’s The Best Help Desk Request You Have Seen?
Reddit is a great platform for reading blogs in particular categories called sub-reddits that you are interested in. Someone posted a question onto the Ask Reddit Sub-reddit titled What’s the best help desk request you have seen? As you can expect with the huge amount of readers on the system some very funny responses came out of this. Here are my two favorites:
1. “I’m going to be working on [file x] soon, and I’ve heard that sometimes people have trouble with it, so I’m opening this ahead of time in case I end up having issues.”
2. Me: Helpdesk, how can I help you?
Him: My computer just stopped working.
Me: Ok, did it freeze up, or shut off completely?
Him: It shut off completely.
Me: Are there any lights on the monitor or computer?
Him: No.
Me: Push the power button on the monitor and tell me if the light comes on.
Him: Nothing.
Me: Is the Monitor plugged in to the power strip beside your desk?
Him: Yes.
Me: Is the light on the power strip on?
Him: No.
Me: Is the power strip plugged into the wall behind your desk?
Him: I can’t tell, it’s dark back there.
Me: (I knew he had a small lamp beside his desk) Use the lamp to look back there.
Him: I can’t.
Me: Why not?
Him: The power is out.
